James Joyce ‘The Dead’ App
Project brief: To develop a digital platform for UCD to bring Irish classic literature to a millennial and post-millennial audience.

Vermillion worked with UCD to launch an app and social media campaign showcasing the work of James Joyce and his short story ‘The Dead’ on the centenary of its publication. The app included a reading of the story by Barry McGovern, as well as photographs of early 20th-century Dublin. The UCD social media team tweeted to all the literary press editors, alumni and Joyce societies. The campaign was placed with RTÉ in January when the Irish media industry is hungry for interesting content.
The app was a huge success, with 8,498 downloads in the ﬁrst week.
